Opening and Closing Registration

Understand when registration opens, how it closes, and which setup choices become locked.

Registration opens automatically

For a normal scheduled tournament, ClubForge opens member registration seven days before the tournament start. The member calendar and signup experience follow the tournament's effective lifecycle state.

How registration closes

For Director-Assigned Positions, set the tournament's Registration Close Date during setup or editing. ClubForge uses that date and time to determine when normal registration closes. For Player-Selected Positions, the standard lifecycle closes registration 48 hours before the scheduled tournament start.

What becomes locked after registration opens

The registration method cannot be changed after the event has opened for registration. For player-selected signup sheets, the hole/position layout is also protected once player registration has begun. Other settings become progressively protected as assignments and scoring are established.

After registration closes

Director-assigned tournaments move into assignment preparation. In Tournament Administration → Assignments, choose or confirm the assignment mode, finalize the shotgun or tee-time layout, generate player assignments, make any needed manual adjustments, and finalize assignments before proceeding to later workflow stages.

A director can handle a legitimate late addition.

When the event is still before play and scoring have begun, Tournament Administration can expose Add Player After Registration Close as a director exception. ClubForge records the reason rather than reopening ordinary member registration.
