Getting Started with ClubForge

A practical overview of the first setup steps for a new ClubForge organization.

Use Getting Started as your setup checklist

Administrators can open Administration → Getting Started at any time. ClubForge evaluates the organization's actual data and shows which setup areas are complete, so the checklist stays useful even if you complete the work in a different order.

1. Review the club profile

Confirm the organization name, short name, public site address, time zone, and contact information. The organization time zone is especially important because ClubForge uses it for tournament schedules, registration windows, bulletins, and other time-based behavior.

2. Import the active member roster

From the main Administration menu, select Import Roster. ClubForge recommends a complete externally managed roster when your club already maintains one authoritative file or report. You can instead choose ClubForge-managed membership in Organization Preferences when that better matches your operation.

Roster setup is one of the two operational requirements for creating tournaments.

3. Add a tournament-ready golf course

Add a course from the ClubForge Golf Course Catalog or create it manually. At least one active tee set must be fully configured with the data ClubForge needs for tournament play, including par, yardage, and handicap rankings for the course holes.

A member roster plus at least one tournament-ready golf course unlocks tournament creation.

4. Review the club website

ClubForge can also provide the organization's public website. Review the starter site, edit the homepage and header, preview changes, and publish when ready. Website setup is useful for launch, but it does not block tournament operations.

Setup areas can be completed in any order.

The Getting Started page reads your current organization state instead of relying on a one-time wizard. Return to it whenever you want a quick readiness check.

Create the first tournament

When ClubForge reports that the organization is Tournament ready, turn on Admin Tools, open Calendar, and click the gold + button on the day the tournament will be played. Complete the Create Tournament form and save the event. Tournament setup then guides you through format, registration, course, assignment, handicap, scoring, and results choices.
